Meet Our Program Directors

 

Rich Luongo – A legendary figure in Central Massachusetts lacrosse, Rich is the former longtime head coach of Algonquin Regional High School and current head coach at Souhegan High School in Amherst, NH. With decades of experience developing top-tier talent, he has played a crucial role in shaping the region’s lacrosse landscape. His passion for the game and commitment to player development have helped countless athletes reach their full potential. 

 

Nate Skermont – A dedicated leader in Central Massachusetts lacrosse, Nate has been a longtime coach at Shrewsbury High School. As a pillar of the local lacrosse community, he has consistently fostered player growth, sportsmanship, and excellence both on and off the field. His influence extends beyond the sidelines, helping to grow the game for future generations.

Jeff Cohen - Head Coach at Clark University, the all-time leader in wins and 2019 NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Now in his 16th season at Clark, Cohen is also a proud alum and previously coached at Colgate University for five years. He brings decades of experience and leadership to the Seven Hills Lacrosse Program.

Together, Rich, Nate, and Jeff bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion to our program, striving to develop the next generation of Central Mass lacrosse players.

Seven Hills Coaching Staff

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR COACHES


 

Experience at the highest levels: The Seven Hills Lacrosse coaching staff is made up of dedicated and experienced coaches who have played at the college and elite high school levels.

 

Homegrown: Many of our coaches grew up in Central Massachusetts, share a deep passion for the game, and are committed to expanding its presence in the region.

Balanced instruction: Our staff understands what it takes to compete at the highest levels of lacrosse. They work closely with players both individually and in a team setting, focusing on skill development, game strategy, and overall lacrosse IQ.

 

Specialists: To ensure well-rounded training, we also have specialist coaches for key positions, including goalie and faceoff development, giving players the resources they need to master their roles.

 

Growing with each team: At Seven Hills, continuity is key. Our coaches stay with their teams as they progress through each year, allowing them to build strong relationships with players, understand their unique strengths, and tailor their development to help them reach the next level. Through this approach, we create a consistent, high-level learning environment where athletes can continually improve and excel.

Seven Hills Lacrosse Coaches

STEPHEN DEFLUMERI

Grew up in Shrewsbury, MA, where he was an All-American and named to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette Super Team while playing at Saint John’s High School. He helped lead the team to two district championships and one state final appearance. Stephen continued his lacrosse career at the Division II level at Rollins College, finishing 5th all-time in career points,  a testament to his skill and consistency on the field. With over a decade of experience in youth lacrosse development, Stephen plays a vital role at Seven Hills Lacrosse, now overseeing all youth teams for grades 5 through 8. Passionate about growing the game, he is deeply committed to teaching and expanding lacrosse throughout his home community of Central Massachusetts.

PAUL LUONGO

Grew up in Northborough, MA, and is an alumnus of Algonquin Regional High School and Plymouth State University, where he played lacrosse for both schools. At Algonquin, Paul earned the US Lacrosse Bob Scott Award in 2015, showcasing his commitment and leadership. At Plymouth State, he was named to the All-LEC First Team, highlighting his skill and dedication. Paul has been a dedicated member of the Seven Hills coaching staff since 2015, focused on developing Central Massachusetts athletes into collegiate-level players. He brings a strong playing background, steady leadership, and a passion for player development to the Seven Hills Lacrosse community.

DAN THOMAS
Faceoff Specialist

Grew up in Shrewsbury, MA, where he was a standout player and leader at Shrewsbury High School before continuing his playing career at the University of Southern Maine. After graduating in 2013, he joined the USM coaching staff and later returned to Shrewsbury High as an assistant varsity coach. From 2016 to 2018, he served as head coach at Cardiff University in Wales, then joined the staff at Clark University in 2019. He is currently an assistant coach at Johnson & Wales University. In addition, Dan has also proudly represented Wales in the World Lacrosse Championships, showcasing his international experience.

PETE LARSEN

A long-time Northborough resident, Pete has been a dedicated member of the Seven Hills Lacrosse community since the program began. He previously served as an assistant coach at Algonquin Regional High School, focusing on player development and fostering a love for lacrosse. Pete’s commitment to the sport is personal— all three of his sons played for Seven Hills and went on to compete at the collegiate level. His experience as a coach and parent provides valuable insight into helping players grow. Pete’s passion for the game and dedication to athlete development make him a key part of the Seven Hills coaching staff.

FRANK ARENA

A resident of Northbridge, MA, Frank serves as the head coach for both the AMSA and Worcester State Club lacrosse teams. With experience coaching at the high school and collegiate club levels, he is deeply passionate about player development and building strong, competitive teams. Frank is known for his commitment to fostering both athletic skill and personal growth in his players. His dedication to the sport and ability to motivate has made a lasting impact, helping athletes improve their performance on and off the field.

JOHN DEFLUMERI

Grew up in Shrewsbury, MA, where he was a standout defenseman at Saint John’s High School, earning First Team All-Conference honors. After graduating, he served as an assistant coach at Saint John’s, helping lead the team to a district championship. John continued his playing career at UMass Amherst, playing club lacrosse. His coaching focuses on developing defensive strategies, game awareness, and leadership. John’s lifelong passion for lacrosse fuels his commitment to helping players reach their full potential.

MATT MONTOYA
Goalie Specalist

Grew up in Shrewsbury, MA, where he was a leader and starting goalie for both Shrewsbury High School and Plymouth State University. A former player for Seven Hills, Matt has firsthand experience with the dedication and coaching excellence that the staff brings to the program. Now as a coach, he continues that tradition by working specifically with goalkeepers, helping develop the next generation of strong, skilled players in the position

CHRIS GORMAN
Goalie Specialist

Grew up in Shrewsbury, MA, and attended St. John’s High School before transferring to Shrewsbury High, where he continued his lacrosse career at Eastern Connecticut State University. There, he earned All-LEC First Team honors. Chris now works with Seven Hills Lacrosse, focusing on developing a cohesive team approach through his work with goalies and defense. His experience as a player and dedication to team-building make him an invaluable asset to our coaching staff

JACKSON LANE

Jackson Lane grew up in Shrewsbury and was a standout defenseman at Shrewsbury High School. He played at Springfield College, where he was a three-time team captain, earning honors such as USILA All-America Honorable Mention (2023), NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year (2025), and All-Conference selections in 2022, 2024, and 2025. His defensive skills and leadership made him a key player for Springfield. Now in his third year coaching at Seven Hills, Jackson brings passion and expertise to developing young players.

PATRICK LIDDY

A Sutton native and standout player at Nipmuc High School, Patrick earned Mid-Mass All-Star honors for his strong play and leadership. He continued to excel at Clark University, where he was a key contributor to the men’s lacrosse team and twice earned All-NEWMAC Academic Team honors. After completing his undergraduate degree, Patrick is pursuing graduate studies at Clark and brings his energy, lacrosse knowledge, and work ethic to the Seven Hills coaching staff. His passion and dedication make him a valuable asset to the program.

NICK LARSEN

Grew up in Northborough,  was a standout attackman and midfielder at Algonquin Regional High School, earning two-time Mid-Wach A League All-Star honors and helping lead his team to back-to-back league titles in 2018 and 2019. He continued his career at Saint Anselm College, where he was a USILA Third Team All-America, NE10 First Team All-Conference, and a two-time NEILA All-New England selection. Nick brings high-level offensive skills and a competitive edge to the Seven Hills coaching staff, helping young players elevate their game.

NOAH LARSEN

A Northborough native, was a standout at Algonquin Regional High School, earning Worcester Telegram & Gazette Super Team and Mid-Wach First Team honors. As a junior, he led the league in points and was named Offensive Player of the Year by teammates. At Saint Anselm College, he earned NEILA Second Team All-New England honors and made the NE10 All-Tournament Team. Noah brings strong offensive skills and playing experience to Seven Hills, focusing on skill development and team play.
